University of Texas at Austin
Heidi Boutros, a Plan II and Government double-major at the University of Texas at Austin,
has written UT's first academic code of conduct, organized UT Amnesty International's first lecture series,
and participated in volunteer projects to stop violence against women. Her growing interest in human rights led her
to co-author a country discrimination report on South Africa for the United Nations World Conference against Racism,
document abuses in Russian prisons, and travel to India to rescue bonded slaves.
Heidi has worked with non-governmental organizations to counter sex trafficking in Southeast Asia and
to provide legal services to asylum seekers. Most recently, Heidi assisted the UN International Criminal Tribunal for the
Former Yugoslavia in drafting the judgment for the Milosevic case.
Heidi enjoys photography, swing dancing, singing, and adventurous travel. She recently rediscovered her
love of biking while in the Netherlands.
